Hi, here is my weekly winners of the week post:
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Julio Jones, WR, Falcons
Statline: 12 rec, 253 yards, 2 TDs receiving
Julio Jones has had kind of a down year, but after one game, people think of him as an elite receiver once again. Jones has been decent all year but this week he was on a whole other level. Jones and the Falcons had come off an epic win over the Seahawks that but them back in the thick of the playoff race. Jones and the Falcons knew they had to play well and win to stay in and they did. Right off the bat, Jones was catching 20-30 yard gains with ease. Then came one of the best plays of the year. Fellow WR Mohamed Sanu lined up at the QB position to fake it and it worked. Sanu caught the snap, waited a few seconds and then gave us his best Matt Ryan impression as he launched the football 50 yards into the endzone. Jones came down with it! It was an amazing play but it was just the start of an epic game for Jones. Jones ended up with a whopping monster 253 yards and also I can't forget to mention 2 TDs. It was a huge game and in my non PPR fantasy league Jones had 38 points! Crazy. In PPR with his crazy 12 receptions, Jones would have totaled 60 points!!!! 60! That is the most in probably over 10 years by a fantasy player. That is crazy. Jones had the biggest bounceback game of the year and it wins his player of the week on my blog.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Rams (8-3)
Final Score: Rams 26, Saints 20
The Rams are your team of the week. After an amazing unexpected start to the season, the Rams slowed down just a tiny bit over the last few weeks, now they are back on top. The Rams ended the Saints 8 game win streak which looked like it wasn't ending any time soon before the game. Not only was it a huge game for the NFC playoff picture for the Saints and NFC South, but the Rams kept the top of the NFC West even though the Seahawks also won. It was a great game. Back and forth it went but the Rams had quite a lead at one point but the Saints made a comeback attempt and it almost worked but the Rams held them and won one of the most important games of the year. It started with QB Jared Goff who tossed the ball very well to give the Rams a chance at winning. RB Todd Gurley played as well as always. Sammy Watkins showed out. But the Rams D played better than expected and held the hot streaking Saints offense in the end even though it was bashed a few times by Alvin Kamara. This was not only a great game played by the Rams, but it was huge in the longrun for them. They made the Saints fall in the playoff race a bit and they kept themselves in the lead against a close race with the Seattle Seahawks for the division. If they had lost that, they would be in a bad position for the division. The Rams still face their toughest tasks of the year, playing the elite Eagles and the Seahawks in Seattle for the division but this huge game was a step in the right direction for the Rams and they are my team of the week!
