My Top 10 Players of the Year (Part 1)

Hi, with the superbowl coming up soon I felt like I needed to write a post about who I think are the top 10 players of this season. 10 being the worst on the list, 1 being the best. Before I start that here is some quick NFL news:

Browns set to cut QB Johnny Manziel on March 9th! Andrew Luck is finally back to full health and will be good for next season!

10. Tyler Lockett Seahawks WR/KR/PR
Some people may be surprised that in his first season I put Tyler Lockett on my top 10 list. Lockett was pretty under the radar this year, but if you actually watched him play you would see how good he played. As a WR Lockett had 51 catches for 664 yards and 6 TD's. That is great for any WR. Lockett is also a top 3 fastest player in the NFL. Kick returning Lockett was even better having 33 attempts and 852 yards! He also had a kickoff return for a TD in the opening season game against the Rams. Also two returning TD's in the preseason. So, he is a great kick returner and NFL analysts are ranking Lockett the No. 1 kick returner of the year which is great. For punt returns Lockett was also great having 16 attempts for still 379 yards and one punt returning TD. Lockett was a great punt return man also. If you add all of these amazing under the radar stats you get 1895 all purpose yards and 8 all purpose TD's. Lockett was a great player and had more total yards than probably any other rookie. He may not be well known but he deserves this spot on the top 10!

9. Eric Berry Chiefs S
Eric Berry had a great year! At the start of the season, the Chiefs were complete fails starting 1-5. Then they won the next 10 games plus one playoff game against the Texans before losing to the Patriots in the divisional round. The reason they stepped up their game was mostly because of their D. By the end of the season the Chiefs D was one of the top 3 D's in the league! Some of this was because of the help of Eric Berry. Berry finished the season with 2 interceptions totaling to 40 returning yards plus one post season interception against the Texans. Another thing was anyone passing his way was not going to do much because he was great at covering any player that went his way. People say that Earl Thomas or Kam Chancellor are the best safeties, even being a Seahawks fan I disagree and say that Eric Berry right now is the best safety. He had a really strong year and so he makes this top 10 list at no. 9. 9 might seem bad, but to me I am ranking him the 9th best player in the whole NFL that has thousands of players. Berry is a great safety.

8. Rob Gronkowski Patriots TE
Patriots fans will probably be mad to see Gronk up so high on this list. I think that Gronk did have a great year but I don't think it was one of his best. Gronk is good but a little overrated. This season Gronk had 72 catches for 1176 yards. That is really good for a TE because the WR's are normally the QBs' first option. Gronk is really too good to pass up the option on passing to him. Get it, pass up on passing to him. That was a bad joke but anyways he is really good. I already think that Gronk is going to go down as the best TE in NFL history. 1176 yards is REALLY good for a TE! Plus this stat doesn't really matter but this season Gronk had one attempt to return a kickoff and it was for only 5 yards. In the end Gronk had 1181 all purpose yards which is great for a TE, but it's not just any TE, it's legendary Gronk!

7. Larry Fiztgerald Cardinals WR
What a big comeback year it has been for Larry Fitzgerald. Last year he only had 63 catches for 784 yards and only 2 TD's. He also had a fumble. This year, Fitz lead the Cardinals on offense helping them make it to the NFC championship but sadly losing. This season Fitz had a whopping 109 catches for 1215 yards and 9 TD's. Fitz did have 2 fumbles though. You can see that he had great stats this season and is a great WR. In the divisional playoff round against the Packers, Fitz had an amazing play for about 60 yards that set the Cardinals up for the winning TD. Fitz has helped the Cardinals so much this season and is a great WR. That is why he gets the no. 7 spot on my top 10 players of the year list!

6. Von Miller Broncos LB
Some people might either be surprised that Miller made this list at all or surprised at how low high he is on this list. Miller had a quiet but great season. Miller totaled 11.0 sacks in the regular season and a few more in the post season. (Most of them on Tom Brady!) Miller had no interceptions on the year except one important one in the playoffs (again on Brady!) Miller had a mind blowing 4 forced fumbles with 2 fumble recoveries! Miller also had 5 assisted tackles! Miller has again had a quiet but great season, and I wonder if he will have any good plays on future MVP QB Cam Newton. If Von Miller makes any game changing plays in the super bowl, I would move him down closer to no. 1 on this list. Miller has had a great year which will be a great case for him next season when his contract runs out and Denver might re-sign him.

Those are my first five top players of the year and I will be posting my last 5 very soon. In the comments below write who you want to see in the top 5!
