My Top 10 Players of the Year (Part 2/2)

Hi, here are my top 5 out of my top 10 players. Be sure to see the other 5 players in my top 10!

5. J.J. Watt Texans DE:
Last season J.J. Watt was ranked on NFL.com the no. 1 player of the 2014/2015 season. Don't get me wrong, he had an almost as good season this year but there are still some players that I have to put on the list ahead of him. Watt had a monster 17.5 sacks this season which is REALLY good for any D player. Also considering the Texans are so bad, it is crazy that J.J.'s game is so good. Watt also had 3 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery! Which is also really good. Watt had 8 passes defended which is amazing for a defensive end because they are cornerbacks looking to swat and intercept passes but they rush the QB, so having 8 passes defended is great. Since Watt is such an important player to the Texans they actually lined him up in a few different positions this year he played DE the most obviously but he also had one play as a RB and one play as a QB, both of them almost resulting in TD's! J.J. also had 17 stuffs. Another great season for J.J. Watt, but not as good as last year which is why I am putting him higher on this list then I would have last year.

4. Odell Beckham Jr. Giants WR:
OBJ had a season that was almost and maybe even better than his monster rookie season. This season OBJ had a whopping 96 catches for 1450 yards and 13 TD's! OBJ was one of the only reasons people thought that the Giants might win their division. The reason they thought Odell was the Giants only hope was because he is a beast. If you look at his stats for this season 1450 yards, 96 catches, and 13 TD's. Those are crazy awesome stats. OBJ only had a few down games this season but I think Odell caught a TD pass almost every single game this season including some games that he scored more than one TD like his monster game against the Saints where he had 3 TD's in one game! Crazy right. Last season OBJ was offensive rookie of the year, this year he could win another big award for an even better season! Odell also is known for his one handed catches one of them last year was the play of the year. This year Odell had one well known one handed TD catch against the Redskins that could win him play of the year for the second year in a row! For returning OBJ didn't do much because the Giants got amazing returner and former Cowboy Dwayne Harris who is a great returner (in the top 5 for me at least) so Odell only got 2 attempts for 26 on punt returns the whole year which is totally ok because he is so good in catching. If you ask me OBJ was the best WR this season even though most people overrate Antonio Brown and say he is but if you compare the stats Odell's are better and that is why I am giving him the no. 4 spot on my top 10 players of the year. One fun fact is that Odell is my favorite player in the NFL!

3. Marcus Peters Chiefs CB:
Some people might be thinking, WHAT!? Why is he overrating this rookie CB Marcus Peters. I would ask me the same question but looking at his stats, that is why I put him in such a great spot for my top players. First of all, without looking at his stats you know he is good. He is basically a lock for defensive rookie of the year and he tied for most interceptions in the league! IN HIS FIRST SEASON! He tied the league leading interceptions with Panthers Josh Norman with 8 picks! One amazing stat is that on the run backs of each interception, Peters total 280 yards! WHAT!? I know right? 280 yards, that's so much for interception run backs. Two of his picks were pick sixes so he had 2 TD's on the season also! Peters also had a forced fumble, which is rare for a CB. Peters lead the top 3 Chiefs D in most categories. Combined for all of his tackles this season he had 60! That is also REALLY good for any D player! Peters also had 26 passes defended which is pretty good! If you see his stats I am not overrating him. He had a really great rookie year landing himself a top 3 spot in my top 10 player of the year!

2. Luke Kuechly Panthers LB:
Here is a player that no one is surprised about him making the list very high up. Kuechly is a great player who has helped the Panthers go all the way to the Super Bowl! Kuechly had 4 interceptions this year in the regular season. One even being a pick 6! Kuechly had a whopping 118 total tackles which is really good for a good LB. Kuechly had 2 forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Those are great stats but most people may be thinking, why is he ranked higher than J.J. Watt and Marcus Peters who both had better stats then him. Well, here is why. In the postseason which is of course the most important time of the season, Kuechly made game changing plays. He had 2 pick that were both pick sixes and I think one pick six against the Seahawks that without it, they would have lost. Kuechly had a fumble recovery also. All of these important plays made Kuechly the Panthers player of the postseason because without some of HIS plays, the Panthers would not be in the Super Bowl right now! Kuechly is almost a sureshot at defensive player of the year (which will be announced tommorow night!) With his amazing plays, Luke Kuechly earned himself the no. 2 spot on this list!

1. (MY PLAYER OF THE YEAR) Cam Newton Panthers QB:
This is no surprise to anyone because of what an amazing season Cam Newton has had. Most people probably have already exited out of this post because they know who no. 1 was going to be. It may be boring to see Cam Newton's name the no. 1 of another top players list. But, it's true Cam Newton had a great year leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record and then to the super bowl! Not including the post season (which is a whole other story) Cam Newton had 35 passing TD's which is amazing!! I am pretty sure that is the most TD passes from one QB this season. Newton had a whopping 296 complete passes. Newton also only had 10 total interceptions and only 1 fumble this season. Which is much different than when last season he had 6 fumbles. Now those stats may not sound that great to you (they are though) but his rushing was really great also. Newton had 10 rushing TD's which is really amazing for any non-RB but for a QB that is even better! Newton also had 636 rushing yards which is crazy for a QB, that is more than some low end RB's like Isaiah Crowell. Newton did have 4 fumbles rushing but that isn't too bad. Now the postseason is a whole different story. This post season Newton has had 496 passing yards and 3 TD's. That is pretty good for any postseason QB. For rushing Newton had 2 rushing TD's and 50 rushing yards. Those stats aren't that amazing but added on to his amazing regular season stats they are even better. Newton had such a great year and he will surely win the NFL MVP award because of his amazing season! Newton also had one run where on the goal line he jumped and did a flip over the defenders to get the TD! That could win play of the year! Cam Newton by far had the best season he had ever had and some QB's will never have such a great season in their whole careers!

That is my top 10 players of the year, I hoped you liked it and stay tuned for the NFL Honors awards tonight and Super Bowl 50 tommorow!

Here are some honorable mentions for the list: Todd Gurley, Doug Martin, Earl Thomas, Aaron Donald, Geno Atkins, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, and DeAndre Hopkins
