Hi, with the best players in free agency pretty much gone, how will some of the veteran backs do with their new teams. Here it is:
Adrian Peterson, SAINTS:
A.P. was going to be the hottest player in free agency I thought, then it took him weeks to muster up a bad, small deal with the Saints to be likely their backup RB. I think A.P. will play well if he is healthy and once he shows that, he will easily become the starter over Mark Ingram. I think Peterson will have a good season with the Saints even though they are more of a pass happy team.
LeGarrette Blount, EAGLES:
I didn't see this coming, I thought Blount was either signing with the Giants or Patriots. Blount is the first POWER back this team will have in awhile. Ryan Matthews will likely lose the starting gig to Blount as Blount looked elite last season when he lead the NFL with 18 TDs. Blount should be one of the best running backs playing for a new team.
Marshawn Lynch, RAIDERS:
I think Lynch will end up being happy that he came out of retirement to play for the Raiders. Their O-line will be the best he's played for yet in his career and he doesn't look very washed up yet even at age 31. He will likely be that bruising back we all remember but this time he will be in silver and black.
Jamaal Charles, BRONCOS:
I think Charles is going to be bad. First of all, he gets injured WAY too much making me skeptical he will even play much, and when he does, he will be assuming the backup role to C.J. Anderson who the Broncos really like. This was a bit of a strange move to me because I don't think Charles is that promising also he wasn't even the best RB still open on the market.
Eddie Lacy, SEAHAWKS:
This one really depends. If his weight is just perfect so he can run well and truck hard but not have issues then he will be good, otherwise he won't. There are lots of sources saying Lacy will get the starting job in Seattle but I personally think Thomas Rawls will. Lacy can be elite, but I'm still not sure if he will even start.
Thanks for reading about how I think some of these running backs will do on their new teams!
