Hi, sorry I haven't posted in awhile, NFL news has been pretty slow lately but something did happen that I thought I should post about. Former Ravens LB Zach Orr is coming out of retirement and I am going to talk about what this means:
Orr was one of the most promising young stars on the Ravens defense, then spinal injuries cut his career short. Its looking like he is feeling confident enough to come out of retirement. Lets just start off by saying, Orr isn't just a random old free agent that will sit on the free agent market, he is only 25, he played last season and retired after it, he has been named an All-Pro linebacker which means that he was the best at his position one year (All-Pro is where at the end of the season, all of the NFL players and people vote on who they think is the best at each position and the winners get named All-Pro. It looks great on their resumes for the rest of their football career and its a huge honor). Orr also lead the Ravens in solo tackles with 132. He had the most tackles by at least 30 on his team which is crazy. Orr has basically never retired because he retired at the end of the year and has come out of retirement later in the off-season. Orr will be hot on the market and I'm excited to see where the
young star lands. Here are some of his potential landing spots:
Baltimore Ravens:
I'm sure that the Ravens will want him back. He PRODUCED for them last season and I can't see why they wouldn't want their young star back in the lineup. Orr also said he has 'no clue' where he will land but the 'perfect situation' would be to play for the Ravens. Even if he gets many offers, I bet he will pick the Ravens if they send him an offer. The Ravens struggled without him so I don't know why he wouldn't see an offer come in from them.
Detroit Lions:
The Lions do need some help at LB but what obviously stands out about the Lions is that they are the first team to already schedule a meeting/workout with Orr which is why I think the Lions are a great candidate. If no other team schedules a workout with him which is supposed to be this Thursday, Orr could just sign with the Lions. I think Orr would be a good fit with the Lions and it will be interesting to see if Orr will wait for potentially more meetings with other teams or sign on the spot with Detroit.
Oakland Raiders:
Sure they do have Bruce Irvin, but I think they could use Orr. They have pretty much no one at the LB2 spot and Orr would immediatly be an amazing upgrade for a defense that is rising to be one of the best young defenses in the league. Orr could be a missing piece in a Super Bowl run for the
Raiders.
Seattle Seahawks:
The Hawks have been trying to invest in young talent all off-season and bringing in Orr who could be a potential star for years to come to be great for the Seahawks. The team is really good at using young defenders and Orr could be great in Seattle. I think Orr would be jazzed to be on such a contending team.
Indianapolis Colts:
The Colts don't have pretty much anyone at LB. Orr could become a star on the Colts D. I think he would be excited to have such a role on the Colts defense and I think he would be pretty good. Orr could have a good chance of landing in Indianapolis.
Thanks for reading and I'll try to keep you posted about where Orr lands, right now his top landing spots are in fact the Lions and Ravens.
