Hi, today I am going to talk about some of the big name college football players to be watching for next season in college to get an early start on the biggest names who will be in the draft next year. Here it is:
Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville:
This past seasons Heisman winner stayed in college for this next season and will leave this year. When someone, especially a QB, wins the Heisman, most of the time they will likely be a top 3 pick. That is the case with Jackson. He has the skillset to become the next Mike Vick. He is one of the fastest QBs I've ever seen and you won't know what I'm talking about until you watch his highlights which I reccommend to you do. The Rams, Jets, and the Ravens are my bets for the top 3 picks in this coming draft and they could all use him even the Ravens if Joe Flacco regresses. His best fit would be with the Bills who may actually need him because their offense is run oriented and so is he.
Sam Darnold, QB, USC:
All of the hype is around Darnold. He had a great season last year that would have likely made him the top pick in the draft but he stayed in college and now is the hot pick to be the top pick in 2018. Right now its looking like he will be going to the Jets where they could really use such a great passer. Teams are really starting to look at the kid and all eyes will be on him next season.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State:
Another player who has almost all the hype around him, Barkley is going to be one of the nations most exciting players. Running backs are very exciting players to watch, especially in college and I haven't seen so much hype around one college RB in awhile and thats what makes me most excited about Barkley. Last season he had 1400 and 18 TDs. Thats GREAT. Barkley will be one of the top picks in the next draft.
Arden Key, DE, LSU:
This coming draft is going to be so much better than the past draft. 1st pick Myles Garrett was considered the best player in the draft by far and had to be the first pick for any team no matter what their needs were, now let me tell you that Key is better and will be drafted lower like 4th or 5th. Key is a freak and he terrorizes. He is going to be a steal for the team that drafts him and I'm excited to see the first time his team and the Browns with Myles Garrett match-up to see who plays better.
Derrius Guice, RB, LSU:
LSU has already found a great replacement for Leonard Fournette, backup Derrius Guice is now one of the most hyped prospects in college. LSU is great with their running backs and I have no issue seeing Guice play well. When Leonard Fournette sat out in LSU's bowl game this season, Guice went OFF! He ran all over the place. I'm excited to see Guice this season.
Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M:
The best receiver in college football this season will likely be A&M receiver Christian Kirk. He's a weapon and everyone needs to know about him. While he wasn't great last year, things have changed and now Kirk is supposed to be the top receiver in college. He could be picked as high as Corey Davis was this season by the Titans at pick 5. Watch out for Christian Kirk, he's a catch.
Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA:
Rosen has the skills to be a top QB in next years draft, but he may lack the leadership skills. Rosen was hard for other teammates to like and people think that Rosen isn't a great leader which is a big thing. If you can get over that, then look at his statline from last year: 1915 yards, 10 TDs, 5 interceptions. Those are some pretty great numbers and that are the numbers you like to see from a QB. He completed more than 50% of his passes. Rosen has some issues but could end up a top pick in the coming draft.
Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming:
Another QB going into the new college season, some people have Allen as high as their no. 2 QB going into the season. Allen has an arm. If you thought Josh Rosen's stats were any good, look at Allen's stats from the past season: 3203 yards, 28 TDs, 15 interceptions, 50% + completion rating. Allen ALMOST decided to go into this past draft but pulled out to improve in another season with Wyoming. He likely would have been the first QB off the board had he left. Allen was great last season and is a player you should watch this coming season.
Bo Scarbrough, RB, Alabama:
Bama' always has a great RB on the team and Scarbrough is their new guy. The game I watched him last season was the playoff game vs. Washington where Scarbrough ran all over them. He was a force that couldn't be stopped, even by one of the better defenses in college. Scarbrough is a bashing RB like Derrick Henry and should be watched this season.
Jake Browning, QB, Washington:
At one point Browning was considered in the Heisman race and was supposed to be a top pick in the 2018 draft, now its hard to say. While Browning was good last year, his lack of arm strength worries a lot of NFL scouts. It lead him to some careless interceptions. He is projected a late round pick right now but he could become a first round QB if he can put together a nice season.
Luke Falk, QB, Washington State:
Falk has become good at Washington State. He had great numbers last year but a thing that is scaring NFL teams away is that he is in such a college offense that wouldn't work in the NFL sorta like Lamar Jackson. He could be a first round pick if he improves in some areas and convinces scouts he can play in an NFL offense. He will be fun to watch, make sure to turn your TV on for some of his games.
Jalen Hurts, QB, Alabama:
While Hurts has an uphill battle to become a top pick in the draft and to have a chance at starting in the NFL, you HAVE to watch him next season. He is probably the 2nd most exciting player in college to watch because of all the wildcats he runs and no teams seem to be able to catch on. Hurts is going to be fun to watch.
Thanks for reading about some of the most fun players to watch this coming college season!
