Hi, something crazy happened today in the combine and I'm here to talk about it. Here it is:

John Ross Record Breaking 40 |
John Ross, WR, University of Washington:
The UW receiver had himself quite a day including picking up the record for the biggest event at the combine, the 40 yard dash. Everyone knew Ross was a speedster and had a chance at the record but who knew he would actually come through and do it. Ross was cramping up a little but ran the dash and set the record anyway, if he wasn't cramped how much faster could he had done it? Anyway Ross was feeling worse after his record breaking run so he didn't try a second run and his 4.22 second dash time stood giving him the record. Former Titans and current Cardinals RB Chris Johnson had the previous record that everyone thought wouldn't be broken for awhile. His record has lasted 9 years with his 4.24 second run. Ross has done the craziest thing today but does it help his draft stock?

Even though Ross breaking the record is attractive, the projected mid first round pick probably won't move up much or at all from it. Teams that like him like him, teams that don't, don't and I don't think it really changes from one run. Everyone already knew he was really fast and just because he's got the record doesn't do much for him even though its cool that its his record and it likely won't be broken for a very long time. In my mock draft I currently have Ross falling 14th to the Phildelphia Eagles who have a deseprate need for a playmaking WR to help young QB Carson Wentz and I feel like having a great speedster in Ross could help that offense very much. If Ross has his sights set on not going to Philly or a team like that he will have to break a few more records first.
Thanks for reading about this crazy record that was broken!
